Barn wedding

The sky is the limit when it comes to decorating. After all, it is your party! Flower hearts? Windmills? Shimmering stars? Whether you are looking for romantic, nostalgic or Rock & Roll, what you need is a personal touch in order to add a bit of glam to your wedding.
2014 brought us Great Gatsby and vintage style weddings. What will the second part of 2015 have in store? We have seen two themes merge throughout these first couples of months of 2015 that we want to share with you. Get ready for the barn wedding and longs days filled with peace & love!

Barn wedding

Yipikayee and practice your “howdy” because this theme is one of 2015’s hits! Weddings are headed west when it comes to design & style. This theme is inspired by the ranch and all that comes with it à la Kate Bosworth’s wedding! Think; leather, cow print, wooden windmills and big outdoor venues such as barnhouses with long wooden farmhouse tables. The details are elevated but the party still has a laid back vibe to it. The roughness of all this is balanced by bouquets of wildflowers and soft colours such as blush or custard.
The great thing about this theme is that it can be done very well on a budget.
Have an outdoor reception for example! Maybe you know someone who has a farm or a big garden where you could through the party? Instead of having chairs, covered hay stacks works really well too! Just imagine the two of you standing underneath a flowery pergola, in the middle of a field, surrounded by family & friends…Isn’t that just the best thing? As for the catering, we’ve seen bars with special craft beers served in cupper mugs, signature drinks and fresh lemonades in mason jars (the perfect summer drink). A couple of wine barrels connected with planks or even wooden carriages can serve as refreshment area. Last year’s food trend for locally grown and simple food is still popular this season and goes perfectly with the theme.
As for the party, get down on it in a nicely decorated barn. Again here, the barrels, hay stacks and even hanging flowers work magic! Feeling inspired already? Have a look at our Pinterest board for even more ideas!

Peace & Love

If your style is laidback, and if you get all warm and fussy from teepees and fringe, you are in for a treat this year! Here comes the peace & love wedding, complete with camper, Volkswagen and colourful, mismatched bride’s maids outfits. For the style think; teepees, hammock and pick nick areas. Decorate with colourful elements such as lanterns and wildflowers.
For the creative spirits amongst you (you know who you are), how about a bit of DIY crafting? Origami anyone? Really cute and they can be made in cranes, butterflies or flowers! They will give a personal touch to your venue, as well add a bit of colour. Use them to decorate your entrance with or even as a backdrop for your photo area. Add a touch of nostalgia with decoration that reminds you of your childhood such as small metal boxes. We’ve seen candy boxes for example, being used as napkin dispensers or even to put flowers in. They will do the trick nicely. Your guests will recognize them and this will surely bring back memories!
Another 2015 hit (especially in summer) are the little colourful windmills. You know, the ones that turn in the wind! Decorative and amusing for the kids! What else could you want? For more ideas on decorating your wedding in this year’s style, go to our Pinterest board.
